Now today we are here in the lines fot collection of the passport and every other line is moving except the collections line. We were told to bring the slip /recieipy when we collect the passport, now all of a sudden we need a letter from the company stating that it is an essential service.

Home Affairs Minister Dr Aaron Motsoaledi has instructed the Department to extend operating hours to ensure that all clients that visited the offices on Friday are served. The extension of operating hours excludes weekends when the offices will be closed. The Minister has also extended operating hours at some of the busiest ports of entry by between two and seven hours, making some of them operational 24 hours. This is to enable a continuous processing of truck drivers. Other travellers will be processed during the hours that fall outside the curfew.

It was a good experience, the personnel was helpful and answered all questions politely. The only snag with all departments of home affairs is that there's no place where you can see what documents to bring for whatever services you require so you might get there only to be told to bring documents you were not aware of. I wish these could be clearly mentioned on their website to prevent being turned back. The info on the website is not entirely correct as I found out this week.
